Reflection

This year, needless to say, has been a very eventful year for me. On top of having both college, and high school responsibilities to take, I had also gone through many personal issues that hindered me, my growth, and my success as a student. Though I did not do particularly well as a Hunter College student, I feel that it has in fact helped me prepare for life as a full time college student.
Some obstacles that I faced throughout the year was staying on task and focusing on my classes. There was one time when I was in Pre Calculus and I was not doing very well with my exam grades. Ariel helped me out by showing me how to do the homework and helping me with the math practice problems for the exams. It improved the way I did the math problems and helped me with the tests that were coming up.
One of the moments of great success that I got this year was passing one of the tests for pre calculus. I scored about an 85, which was actually higher than my other exams that I took. I felt like studying paid off and that having a friend to help actually helped me pass the test.
I took Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Computer Science, and Astronomy. My favorite class was Computer Science because the work that the teacher gave us was not hard and I felt like I understood everything she taught me. I learned how to write a program and work on a command that I did not know how to do in the beginning of the course.
I need to work on paying attention to my classes since I have been doing that for the past year at Hunter College. I need to do the homework that they give me and study for the exams. I need to learn how to do the assignments in time and not past the deadlines. I will try to get the assignment and work on it before the deadline. I will try to stop procrastinating and try to focus on my assignments. I will also try to come early to class instead of coming in late.
I studied in the library in the seventh floor. I used the Hunter Writing Center and the computer lab. I also went in for math tutoring when I was in Pre-Calculus.
I learned that I could be irresponsible and become lazy with the assignments that I am given. I also learned that I could give unrefined work and do not dedicate enough time to the homework I get. I need to step it up if I need to pass the college courses, knowing that they have very difficult to pass.
I will be attending BMCC in Fall 2010. My personal goals are to pass my first year and try to transfer out to Hunter College. In five years, I hope to be a graduate from Hunter College. In the later years, I will get into my major, who I am not sure what I will be doing yet.
MHSHS students coming in next year should try to focus on their college classes and not try to form groups that hang out in front of the library. If you need time to study, they should go to the library because that is where I got most of my studying done. Going to social places, like the cafeteria or the fourth floor will only hinder your studying.
